Planning your fundraiser
Fundraising begins with fun! We are here to help you as much as we can, so once you have a plan do register with us. If you have any questions then please email us!
Here are some tips to help you get organised!
What can dance4life do to help you?
- Register with us, and you'll get lots of help. We've got posters, flyers, logos, a leaflet about dance4life, a sponsorship form, banners, clips - anything we can think of that you can use. They are available in 10 different languages as well. Just download what you want and use it! As simple as that.
- Once your plans are in place, then we'll add your event or fundraiser to this website, so that everyone can see what you're doing.
- We are always here to help you with any aspect of supporting us - you just have to ask!
When? You can support us at any time - and especially on Saturday 29th November which is dance4life day. The more happening on that day the more dance4life will be visible.
How? Try to spread the tasks around – you might need people to help sell tickets, be DJs, to promote what you’re doing, or just clean up afterwards! Make sure that there is just one contact person, who has overall responsibility.
Budget Have a good think about how much money you might need to spend for example on a location, refreshments, printing, equipment, decoration etc. – and even better try and get as help from your school, church, local companies or friends. And remember that the point is to raise money, so don’t overspend!
Sponsoring Companies don’t just sponsor by giving money, they also donate their services. If you need a location, or equipment then explain why you need it, and ask if you can get it for free or with a big discount. You can always offer to mention the sponsor on a flyer, or in the programme. Give it a go!
Facebook and PayPal There is a new PayPal application on Facebook that allows your friends to sponsor you in whatever you're doing for dance4life. You select dance4life as the organisation and then encourage their friends to support it with an online donation. You create a customised badge which accepts PayPal donations securely. In addition friends can copy your badge to their Facebook page and encourage their friends to donate.
Promotion An event is only fun if it is well-attended! So make sure that everyone knows what’s happening, where and when. You can do this in different ways: an invitation via email or post; posters; flyers; and word of mouth. By registering with us, we can offer you posters etc., and we can put details of your event on this website.
Photography Don’t forget to take photos of you’re event and email them to us, as they might then be shown on the dance4life website!
Press It’s always important that the local press is aware of your event. You can do this by writing a short press release, and making sure that it is newsworthy. For instance announce that a well-known person is attending, or you are planning to break a world record, or it’s taking place in an unusual place. Once you’ve sent it out, ring up and check that they’ve got it, or read it! Register with us for help with a press release.
Paying the money in and getting a receipt The donations page has all the information you need about transferring the money to us, and receiving a receipt. Please email us if you have any questions.
