Making a difference – vietnamese high school students raise funds and donate to HIV orphans in Hanoi and Ba Vi

17-04-2009

As part of dance4life Vietnam’s schools project in 2008, students of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai high school, Cao Ba Quat high school, Le Quy Don high school, Nguyen Binh Khiem high school and United Nations International School of Hanoi (UNIS) raised 8,000,000 Vietnam Dong for HIV-affected orphans showing their commitment to the project.

Speaking contests and fashion shows, writing letters and self-made post cards to HIV orphans, collecting waste paper, selling home-made cookies and sausages and other creative activities have been organized by students. The central theme of all activities was ‘No Discrimination against People Living with HIV’ and activities were open to students, teachers and parents.

The total proceeds of just over 8,000,000 Vietnam Dong were donated in both cash and goods to projects selected by the students and include ‘Bo De Pagoda’ in Hanoi, ‘Ba Vi Centre II orphanage’ and ‘Cau Giay district orphan village’.

Inspiring examples of student organized activities will be available on www.dance4lifevietnam.org
