dance4life wins at the AfriComNet awards!

On 12th June, in Windhoek, Namibia, dance4life won the award for the “Best multi-channel strategy, campaign or tool” in the 2009 Annual Awards for Excellence in HIV and AIDS Strategic Communication in Africa.

awardThere were 31 entrants from 16 countries in Africa with four winners, each in a different category, and one chairman’s award. In the "Best multi-channel" category dance4life won ahead of seven other nominees and were the only non-PEPFAR programme.

The award is a testimony to the tremendous strides made by dance4life in 2008 in Africa. dance4life was implemented in seven African countries (Kenya, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe) reaching almost 150,000 young Africans and creating at least 120,000 agents of change!

Specifically dance4life was awarded because of the innovative use of dance, and the fact that it is global in nature but still locally relevant by re-energizing existing local responses.
