CAMA Festival 2010 rocks Hanoi for a good cause
17-05-2010
The CAMA Festival 2010, held in Hanoi last Saturday, hosted a mixed crowd of young and old, locals and expatriates, who had come together to enjoy great music and dance and to support dance4life in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
As promised, the fourth Hanoi International Music Festival delivered a full-on day of rock-fuelled mayhem with performances by artists from Vietnam, the USA, France, Australia, Japan, the Philippines and China on the main stage and in the all-day DJ tent. The festival performers brought an atmosphere of intense energy created by their shared passion for music.
Nearly 3,000 people were present at the festival, starting at 1pm, rocking along with an immensely diverse range of talent, with music from local electronica, hip-hop and nu-metal to cutting-edge Beijing indie rock, French-Jamaican reggae/dancehall and Australian electronic-jazz fusion. Along with acts playing on the main stage and in the all-day DJ tent, there were break dance performances, a kids disco and other fun activities for children, and an international food court. The festival organisers did their best to ensure there was something for everyone to enjoy, making it a great day out for the whole family.
“The festivals have been going from strength to strength. This year, we attracted some really great talent from around the world, who delivered tremendous performances. We were very pleased with the turnout and to see many Hanoians come and dance for a great cause. Music is an immensely powerful vehicle in spreading dance4life’s message and bringing people together,” said Nick Greenfield, CAMA co-founder.
With dance4life’s focus on raising HIV awareness amongst young people using music and dance, the project has been a perfect fit for the CAMA Festival and its audience. dance4life’s activities at the event included performances from the dance4life school tour team and dance4life ambassadors Big Toe and Kim JoJo.
“The festival has been a great opportunity for us to get dance4life’s message out to young people. Through music and dance, we will continue to connect with more Vietnamese youth and inspire them to make a change and raise their voice to stop the spread of HIV. The partnership with CAMA has been a great success and we hope to continue this momentum in the years to come,” said Jerry Clewett, Country Representative of World Population Foundation, concept owner of dance4life in Vietnam.
