World Record with Biggest Ever Diski Dance supported by dance4life.
17-06-2010
Cape Town, 16 June 2010 – Just before the match of Bafana Bafana against Uruguay, Cape Town celebrated Youth Day with the Biggest Ever Diski Dance. 16,000 visitors of the Cape Town FIFA Fan Fest made history by performing the Diski Dance together, a new world record!
The Fan Fest at the Grande Parade was packed from the moment the gates opened at 11h00. During the day 200 young Diski Dancers of South African Gymnastics Federation and Cape Town Tourism mingled in the crowd to teach the audience the dance.

They were supported by the dance4life crew that appeared on stage during the day to take the audience through the paces. The Diski vibe during these practices was amazing, but the true highlight was the main performance just before the match of Bafana Bafana. After a special dance4life warm-up the crowd was ready to make history. And they did! Table Mountain, Tsamaya and Chester: the crowd followed the dancers on stage really well. The Diski Dance has never been performed by so many people, so Cape Town is now the proud owner of the World Record Diski Dance.
The Biggest Ever Diski Dance is supported by dance4life. “This is a phenomenal opportunity to show that through dance young people can celebrate and create change. We are glad for this unique opportunity to celebrate such a significant day in our history and demonstrate that as a unified nation we are willing to face our future together” says dance4life South Africa MD Wayne Alexander.
