dance4life Germany sets record: biggest FIFA Fan FestTM Flashmob in Berlin!

With its pulsing dance choreography, dance4life, the world’s biggest youth movement against HIV and AIDS, made a total of 300,000 soccer fans dance at the FIFA Fan Fest Berlin.

dance4life has set an impressive landmark for a fair, healthy future worldwide at the official FIFA Fan FestTM Berlin as part of the Soccer World Cup in South Africa. dance4life stands for youth-oriented HIV / AIDS education, international understanding, tolerance, responsibility, but also for fun and vitality through dance, sports and music.

With its performances on 10 July 2010 (match for 3rd place) and on 11 July 2010 (final match), dance4life Germany made hundreds of thousands of soccer fans at the FIFA Fan FestTM Berlin dance. 200,000 soccer fans at the match for 3rd place and up to 100,000 fans at the final match took part in the biggest dance4life FIFA Fan FestTM Flashmob of all times.

Together with the Berlin-based samba formation “Sapucaiu no Samba”, manifold winner of the Berlin “Carneval of Cultures” and one of the best samba schools in Europe, the team of dance4life Germany rehearsed and performed a one-minute choreography on both days together with the FIFA Fan FestTM visitors. This choreography is part of the dance4life choreography that is performed in 24 countries participating in the youth programme dance4life. More than 500,000 young people worldwide have – as part of dance4life youth activities – so far danced this choreography to show their commitment to respect, tolerance and a healthy future.

In the run-up to the Flashmob record attempt, “Universaldance“, a worldwide formation of international DJs, supported dance4life Germany. On 8 July 2010, a dance4life support party took place at “Club Rekorder” in Berlin. On 9 July 2010, “Universaldance” DJs played their music at the Berlin FIFA Fan FestTM to show their support for dance4life.

The FIFA Fan FestTM-Flashmob of dance4life Deutschland complements the diski dance world record of dance4life South Africa. This record was set on June 16, 2010 (South African National Youth Day) at the FIFA Fan FestTM in Cape Town. About 16,000 people performed this traditional South African dance to stand up against HIV and AIDS.
