WIDE

Talking about sex in Uganda is taboo. Sex education in school? No way! The consequences? 80% of the HIV infections occur with the youth, and the average age of a woman to have her first child is 19. WIDE has principally been established to better the situation of young women and me, to discuss sex, and make contraception and health care available to them. Making them aware about safe sex and living with HIV and AIDS is the first step towards change

There are also hundreds of young people trained by WIDE to give advice to there own friends at school. WIDE also give special performances - a group of 14 people living with HIV (who speak openly about it) spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and safe sex through dance and theater. WIDE has grown with the help of the WPF into an organisation that teaches hundreds of young people every year, and helps tens of people in their clinics. By receiving money from Dance4Life amongst others, WIDE is getting the chance to grow into one of the most important organisations in the field of sex education and HIV/AIDS prevention in the Ugandan district of Jinja.

This means that even more people can be helped.
