The Ombetja Yehinga Organisation (OYO) informs young people about HIV and AIDS through dance and theatre. And with success!
AIDS is the main cause of death in Namibia. The stigma’s and myths about sexual health are still very dominant. The young theatre makers from OYO write plays, organise fashion shows and give dance performances, especially for young people, on location.
This way, OYO opens up difficult topics like rape, safe sex and violence, for discussion. It seems to work: the HIV and AIDS rates among young people in Namibia appear to be decreasing a little. (Project by STOP AIDS NOW)
