Dance4Life Germany
Germany was the second European country to join Dance4Life, with Bremen being the first German city to adopt the Dance4Life project.
2006 Schools4Life are in full swing in Bremen! Ten schools participated, with a total of 1,800 students. The tours comprised of the Drill practice, dance and movement workshops, percussion groups, making of art objects, an awareness programme about HIV and AIDS and discussions. At the end of the week the participating young people put on a show for teachers and family showing everything they'd done and learnt!
What worked brilliantly was that the Tour Teams involved the youth in a whole week of AIDS awareness, which is why so many dance, music and art workshops were held which were very popular. Also in the Tour Team there was a person living with HIV, and another person from Togo, Africa, and they both talked openly about their experiences of HIV and AIDS.
Act4Life An Operational Team was set-up at each school with the youth and teachers raised money for Dance4Life. Each school had a target of €1000, and if they raised it then the students could go to the Dance4Life Event at the Mercedes-Benz Kundencentrum Bremen. One school came up with some brilliant fundraising ideas including: drinking one can of drink less per week or sending three less sms’s per week, the school cafeteria run by the students, and singing in a shopping mall! The monies raised went to HIV and AIDS projects in Ethiopia and the Ukraine (click here for more information).

Pilot in Bremen 2005 The Event, the finale of Schools4Life for Dance4Life Germany was held in the Bremen club Aladin on 1st December 2005. Not only school youth from Bremen were dancing their asses off, they got help from some great dance professionals. The HipHop World title holder and professionals from some of the hottest dance groups in Bremen (Tanztheater Bremen, Tanzwerk, deLooPERS, Impuls and Steptext) danced together with the school kids at the Dance4Life event.
