Uganda celebrates in style !

2,000 young Ugandans gathered in Jinja on Saturday to celebrate their achievements. To reach the event, the 2,000 young people marched through the streets of Jinja - a fantastic show of unity and strength !

It was an extremely inspirational day for the students and for staff. Everyone was entertained for two and a half hours with performances from the young people themselves, local artists and the Minister for Education and Sport, Hon. Gerard Namirembe Bitamazire, who during her speech thanked the young Ugandans present :

"I am pleased to see that all of you I see here today have committed yourselves to actively and urgently reversing the devastating trend of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Thank you."

Many of the young people present were inspired by what was happening :

'During the HCT we were told there will be a big event but it never came to my mind that it would be this massive' (Kadondo Juliet, from Nakanyonyi Girls School).

'It was so amazing seeing so many students from other countries doing the same thing as we were doing down here. I couldn't help but scream with joy' (Kalema Moses, from Trinity College Buwagi)
