Kyrgyzstan

The National Concept Owner in Kyrgyzstan is Public Union “Reproductive Health Alliance” (RHAK), registered December 27, 2001. It’s a national non governmental and non commercial organization.

In 2003 PU RHAK became an Associate Member of International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).
RHAK’s mission is the promotion, protection and defense of the rights of men and women to make informed choices related to their reproductive and sexual health.
RHAK is working on 5 strategic areas: Adolescents/Young people; AIDS/HIV; Advocacy; Access and Safe Abortion

RHAK has 7 regional branches in all 7 regions of Kyrgyzstan, with :
• 393 members
• more than 2000 volunteers
• 2 clinics on Safe Abortion and Family Planning in 2 regions of Kyrgyzstan
• 4 Birth preparation schools in 2 regions of Kyrgyzstan

RHAK is recognized by the Ministry of Healthcare as the leading NGO in SRHR sphere and the members of RHAK are often invited by the Ministry as experts in monitoring and trainers on SRHR issues. It is a member of Y-PEER network and SRHR Coalition in Kyrgyzstan and a base organization which has its methodology and expertise in the sphere of peer education and youth friendly services. RHAK has its own national team of peer educators and provides an ongoing peer education.

2009/2010
RHAK will be active with dance4life in 5 regions of Kyrgyzstan and Bishkek city, aiming to strengthen the support for youth and community involvement, including involving key people, the mass media and governmental institutions. RHAK expects to increase the sensitivity of the community and young people to the issues of stigma and discrimination.
