In addition to Indonesia and The Netherlands, South Africa was an early adopter. In 2004, Dance4Life South Africa was able to mobilise thousands of young people. In 2006 they were just as successful.

2008
The Dance4Life South Africa programme, which rolled-out in 20 schools across the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal in 2007, has moved into the Eastern Cape as part of their 2008 programme expansion across Provinces.
Focusing on facilitator-led communication on HIV prevention and better sexual reproductive health, Schools4Life has become closer aligned to the National HIV and AIDS Strategic Plan (2007-2011). Programme content is presented in isiXhosa, isiZulu, Afrikaans and English.
Following on from the schools projects in the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, the Dance4Life schools projects in the Eastern Cape continues to actively encourage young people to learn more about HIV and AIDS in a funky, breathtaking and moving way. Employing an interactive 'edutainment' and communication platform, Dance4Life South Africa endorses a participatory teaching method which incorporates drumming, dancing, poetry, role-playing activities and other creative techniques to actively engage youth in issues around HIV-prevention.
In 2008, Dance4Life South Africa will work in 5 schools in the Eastern Cape, 30 schools in KwaZulu-Natal and 20 schools in the Western Cape during 2008.
2007In 2007 Schools4Life continue in KwaZulu Natal and the Western Cape. Skills4Life are being held - and Tiësto visited one of these in October, when he was travelling in South Africa being filmed by TMF for a documentary about his Dance4Life ambassadorship.
There are also Act4Life activities going on in schools, were the students choose one of the issues discussed in Skills4Life and do a project on it - like drama, dance, singing or writing. These will be presented and performed in front of the school and the community!
DurbanDance4Life South Africa is based in Durban, in the KwaZulu-Natal region in which nearly 30% of the 5,400,000 people living with HIV in South Africa live. 10.4% of young people between the ages of 15-24 are living with HIV.
Schools4Life 2006Schools4Life is all about interaction. Dance4Life is about becoming an Agent of Change, so that you can mobilise others. Then you can convince and involve your peers.
The first stage includes workshops, run by the Dance4Life Tour Teams, who use drama, dancing and discussions to break the silence and taboos. There is also Skills4Life, when topics such as Human Rights, assertiveness, decision making and negotiation are discussed.
Schools4Life started in September 2006, with a total of 28 workshops taking place in nine schools, situated either in the Western Cape or in Ndwendwe Central, a rural area in the KwaZulu-Natal region. There has been loads of enthusiasm to the projects by the 8,200 participating students.
"We see ourselves as fortunate to be chosen by Dance4Life to be part of Schools4Life. We are a rural community, and we are often overlooked when it comes to opportunities such as this one." Ms Gumede, Principal of Hloniphani High, Ndwedwe.
What happened in 2004 and 2005? On 27th November 2004, together with young people from the Netherlands and Indonesia, thousands of South Africans danced for life, simultaneously broadcast so they could see each other making a statement of hope.
In 2005 in 15 schools in the Western Cape and KwaZulu Natal an educational programme was organised. Want to know about the organisation in South Africa? Check the National Concept Owner (NCO) of South Africa here.
