Zahra Mohamedy & Lwidiko Mhamilawa
Zahra Mohamedy (19, musician) from Dar es Salaam is one of the peer educators in Tanzania
“I got involved with dance4life with the training and stayed after the training. I then became a peer educator. During the pilot project I was very much impressed with the song (The drill) of dance4life because it is a song that has a message that is very useful.
I think dance4life is important because it educates people, especially the youths, about HIV/AIDS in a very special way - which is through music. Music is very useful to the youths. I personally have joined dance4life because I want to educate people more about HIV and AIDS. “
Lwidiko Mhamilawa (17, student), Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
"I was informed by the executive director of Music Mayday Tanzania Salum Mshamu that there was a very cool program coming, called dance4life and that I should try and be involved in it. Well, here I am! During the training, when one of our trainees told us that he was HIV+, I was very shocked. Another moving moment was when I got the chance to speak the last words that closed our very successful event.
I think dance4life is very important because it uses a different way of breaking the stigma of HIV among youths. It’s fun, unifying and touching and involves you at the same time.
I hope I can make dance4life grow bigger - more specifically in the rural parts of Tanzania, It’s a very cool anti-AIDS campaign. dance4life is for life. Please help us to let it stay because otherwise young innocent souls are not helped."
