Dr. Hawass is the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt. In 2006 he was awarded an Emmy and was named as one of the "100 most influential" people in the world by Time Magazine. He arranged that the Dance4Life Event took place at the Pyramids in 2006.

Dr. Hawass currently serves as Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities and Director of Excavations at Giza, Saqqara and the Bahariya Oasis. He has worked in the fields of antiquities and archaeology for nearly forty years, and has lectured, been published and received prizes all over the world.
