Ilco is the co-founder and was the managing director of dance4life. He started organising events in 1979 when he was sixteen with Bevrijdingspop (Dutch Liberation Day music festival), and went on to organise many other events such as Racism Beat It Festival. He left the organisation in January 2007 to go on a two year journey around Africa and Europe with his wife and three daughters.
