The supervisory board is responsible for supervising the planned activities and budget of dance4life and evaluating dance4life’s executive director. The members don’t receive any emoluments.
Wietse Tjoelker worked as an accountant for KPMG and since 2013 he owns an advice agency. As an advisor he is involved with several family companies and has a special skills in financial research. He is also involved in several cultural organisations as a board member.

A good knowledge on sexuality and reproductive rights are key for them to make important choices in their lives. dance4life has an important role in it and develop them in a innovative and openminded way.'
After studying economics at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Joris Aperghis worked as marketeer at The Coca-Cola Company, as General Manager at MTV Networks and as CMO at G-Star RAW. At the moment he is CEO of WE Fashion and he runs his own brand strategy business Buzz&Co.
'I’ve got daughters myself and I realize how important it is that can make their own – well informed – decisions. Your influence as a parent is limited, young people are more eager to listen to their peers. That’s why dance4life is a fantastic platform, with young people learning from each other, in their own language and with the help of music: a very effective method, that helps us to reach our goal, a world without AIDS, unplanned pregnancies and sexual violence.'
Laura Lasance is Child Participation and Advocacy Manager at KidsRights. Laura has a background in conflict studies and human rights and has been working in the field of youth leadership since 10 years. Before she started at KidsRights, she was executive director of CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality.
‘At CHOICE I worked closely with a dance4life for years, so I’m very familiar with the organization and the team. dance4life involves a lot of young people in a positive way with issues related to sexuality, rights and HIV/AIDS. Our belief is that young people can make a substantial contribution to the world. I think it’s great I can support this as a board member.’
Thérèse van Schie
Thérèse van Schie is chairwoman of the supervisory board of dance4life. After studying Slavic languages (with Russian as a major) and law at the University of Amsterdam Thérèse worked as marketeer and general manager at Unilever/ICI, of which 6 years in England and 6 years in Hong Kong. Between 2003 and 2006 she was director of Het Amsterdam Uitburo and currently she runs her own advisory business and has several supervisory role in the profit and not-for-profit sector.
